Nuts of the ASTM A194 Grade 7 variety are made of chromium-molybdenum alloy steel and are internally threaded and heat-treated. This specification describes the nuts. The A194 specification calls for several distinct grades, including AISI 4140, 4142, 4245, and 4145H, among others. Hot forging, cold forging, and machining are the three processes that are used to manufacture the ASTM A194 Gr 7 Heavy Hex Nuts from bar stock that has been heating treated.
About ASTM A194 Gr.7 Nut
The substance can be broken down into its parts: carbon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, silicon, chromium, and molybdenum. The sizes of the fasteners range from one-quarter of an inch to one and one-half inches, and the number of threads per inch can be anywhere from eight to twenty.
Tensile strengths of between 150 and 175 ksi can be found in SA 194 Grade 7 Nuts, which come in sizes ranging from M6 to M100. These fasteners find use in various industries, including the oil and natural gas, petrochemical, biochemical, pharma, and power generation sectors.
