Monel 400, often known as Alloy 400, is a nickel and copper solid solution alloy. Monel 400 pipe chemistry comprises around 67% nickel and 23% copper. This grade possesses muscular strength even at high temperatures, typical of most nickel alloys. However, Monel 400 seamless pipe should not be used at temperatures exceeding 1000°F.
This Monel alloy has a melting point of between 2370° F and 2460° F. A high melting point indicates strong dimensional stability ASTM B165 Alloy 400 seamless pipe, particularly since high temperatures frequently modify the molecular flow of the metal, changing its physical shape. Because of its high copper content, ASTM B725 UNS N04400 welded pipe is preferred in the maritime engineering sector.
